Hope’s Twelfth Birthday Party!

Posted by mirandakay on June 1, 2008

Today was my daughter Hope’s twelfth birthday party. It was small, but very nice. She invited four friends from school. I made it very simple. We just ordered pizza and made lemonade. We also had cake and made sundaes. She received lots of gift cards and a nice size check. She is into clothes now, so I’m sure she will want to go shopping. There is an opportunity for some mother -daughter bonding. The rain cleared up so the girls were able to eat on our newly stained deck.

After the girls were done with all the sugar from the cake and sundaes, Hope let everyone take a small, round ice cream sandwiches and frost it with white and colored frosting. They also piped on icing with a star tip. They were so cute! Talk about a sugar overload! I’m sure the parents were happy with me! I did take pictures with my daughter’s digital camera. Now I just need her to download them. How is it that she has a digital camera and I don’t? My birthday is coming up. Hint! Hint!

Tomorrow is her real birthday. I will take time to reflect with her dad the day she was born. That is a day that is etched in my memory. I was so incredibly happy! Hope is actually my second born child and daughter. We had a little girl named Kaitlyn Miranda that was born in March of 1992. She would be sixteen years old. She died at the age of two from complications of an immune defeciency. She brought me more joy and taught me much about life. So my husband decided to name our next daughter Hope in the hope that we would have a healthy little girl. And that we did. Hope and my son know that they have a big sister looking down on them from heaven. She died on June fourth. I was so worried that Hope would be born on June fourth and that day would be bittersweet. I thank God that she was born on the first. I am grateful that I have two precious children here with me and one in my heart forever.
