Sunday Thoughts
Posted by mirandakay on May 18, 2008
It is sunny in my part of the world. I hope everyone is having a blessed Sunday. I’ve had many thoughts running through my head lately.
Even though we are a country filled with cell phones, e-mail, instant messaging, etc. it doesn’t appear to keep us anymore closely connected. You would think that the church would be different. Maybe they are a little different. We reach out a little bit more, but then we go back to our lives until we meet again. I have always wondered how we can do life a little more together. Acts 2:44 says “All believers were together and had everything in common. Selling their possesions and goods, they gave to anyone as he had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. I don’t have the answer. I wish I did. I do have some ideas though. I will start with myself. I will care a little bit more about others than I care about myself. I will send someone an encouraging e-mail or note. I will pray for them. I will ask what’s going on in their lives and really listen. Let’s think of more ways we can be connected and “do life together.”
Prayer for the day:
Dear God, I have never thanked you for my thorns. I have thanked you a thousand times for my roses, but never once for my thorns. Teach me the glory of the cross I bear;teach me the value of my thorns. Show me that I have climbed closer to you along the path of pain. Show me that, through my tears the colors of your rainbow look much more brilliant.
